Timothy Hubbard, a longstanding member of the DSWAA, is a retired heritage architect and planner.  He remembers, as a child, being fascinated by the dry stone walls along the Geelong Road.  As President, he is keen to strengthen links between the continuing craft of walling and the recognition, celebration and conservation of fabric surviving from its past.

Founder of DSWAA and former President, and the now Vice-president, Jim is an architect and planner and Honorary Fellow of Planning Institute Australia. He led DSWAA from 2003 to 2022 and delivered on the objective of making the DSWAA a truly National body and a peak body for certification of wallers in conjunction with the DSWA UK.

He has organised countless field trips and other events and collaborated with local government in mapping Australia’s extensive dry stone walls.

Anne has an enthusiastic interest in dry stone walls – especially the basalt walls of Victoria’s Western District. At a National Trust tour in the early 1980’s she met Tom Larkins, one of the last wallers in the Camperdown area. Whilst living in Scotland in the 1980s, she did a walling course with Robin Callander, waller at Balmoral. 

Anne joined the committee in 2024 and became Secretary at the 2025 AGM in Wagga Wagga. Anne aims to increase membership and participation in the Association and relationships with all interested parties.

Jane is currently based in Hobart after having an initial career as a health professional and then owning a grazing and cropping property in western Victoria. During this time she developed a love of dry stone walls and hands-on experience in their restoration and care. 

She has a long-standing passion for cultural heritage conservation and the environment and is involved with a variety of heritage and environmental groups.

Wayne hails from the Riverina District and works out of Wagga Wagga.  He has run his own landscaping company since 1987 with most jobs incorporating rock work. Wayne is also an experienced teacher having taught at both Wagga Wagga TAFE and Wagga Wagga Community College.

Wayne’s passion for dry stone walling was fostered by trips to England & Ireland and is DSWA (UK) Level II and Instructor certified. He has run Dry Stone Walling workshops in Wagga Wagga, Canberra & the Southern Highlands.

Geoff Thomas returns to the DSWAA Committee having served on it previously as Secretary and  Archivist.  His interest in rocks and stone structures resulted from the acquisition of land at Redesdale 44 years ago.  Since then he has built a stone dwelling and attempted to construct and repair dry stone walls on the property. Being a member of DSWAA has been an inspiration causing much rethinking about his love affair with stone.

Having previously owned a Registered Training Organisation, Geoff is keen to progress the Association’s development of training and accreditation for wallers in Australia.
